Instant Orthodontics with Porcelain Veneers

By Dr. Treiber on September 20, 2018

Porcelain veneers preparationFew people enjoy a smile that is free of aesthetic flaws. One of the most common types of cosmetic dental problems is malocclusion. Malocclusion may result in crooked, overcrowded, or gapped teeth. Traditionally, orthodontic treatment has been the only way to correct malocclusion and improve the appearance of the smile. However, there are faster, more convenient methods that can be effective in treating certain cases of malocclusion.

Cosmetic dentistry treatments address oral imperfections, such as misaligned teeth, to improve the appearance of the smile. At our cosmetic dentistry practice, Dr. Bruce E. Treiber offers instant orthodontics with porcelain veneers. This treatment can be performed on our Canton, OH patients to make the teeth appear straighter in just two dental appointments.

What Is Treatment Like?

Instant orthodontics with porcelain veneers is a lot different than traditional orthodontic treatments. The goal of this technique is not to correct the position of the teeth, but rather to conceal misalignment problems and produce the appearance of straighter teeth.

This means that patients do not have to wear metal brackets or wires, or go through months of wearing aligner trays. Instead, instant orthodontics with porcelain veneers offers fast and effective results. Treatment can be completed in as little as two dental appointments. In a matter of weeks, patients can enjoy a straight and healthy-looking smile.

The first step of treatment is planning and preparation. Dr. Treiber carefully designs each set of porcelain veneers to help patients get their desired treatment results. Porcelain veneers can be customized by shape, color, and size, so we can improve the smile while maintaining a natural appearance.

Once the veneers have been designed, the teeth will be prepped for porcelain veneers placement. A small layer of tooth enamel will be removed so that the veneers sit flush with the natural teeth and fit comfortably. When preparation is complete, temporary veneers will be placed to protect the teeth while the permanent porcelain veneers are fabricated.

As soon as the custom porcelain veneers are ready, patients will return to our office for the final step of treatment. We will test the placement of the veneers and make any adjustments that may be necessary to produce the best fit.

When we are satisfied with the fit of the veneers, they will be bonded to the teeth using a special dental compound. The compound material is hardened with a dental light that essentially cements the veneers to the teeth.

With proper care, porcelain veneers can improve the appearance of the smile for 15 years or more.

Is Instant Orthodontics Right for Me?

With the many benefits that instant orthodontics has to offer, it is no wonder that so many patients want to find out if they are ideal candidates for this procedure.

In general, any patient who wants to address malocclusion problems quickly and conveniently may be well-suited to instant orthodontics with porcelain veneers. However, it is also important that malocclusion problems not be too severe. If alignment issues are interfering with oral functions or compromising the health of the teeth or gums, this technique may not be adequate.

The only way to know for sure if instant orthodontics with porcelain veneers is right for you is to undergo a consultation with an experienced cosmetic dentist, such as Dr. Treiber.
