The Dental Implants Process

Before receiving dental implants, you will need to undergo a thorough screening and evaluation. Dr. Bruce Treiber will examine the overall health of your teeth and gums, as well as your jawbone structure. You will also be able to discuss your expectations and goals for your treatment. Placing dental implants requires two surgeries. During the first, your oral surgeon will insert the implants into your jawbone. Over the next three to six months, your jaw will become fused to the implant. When this process is complete, your oral surgeon will attach abutment pieces to the posts during a second surgery. Once the gums have healed around the abutment and implant, Dr. Treiber can begin the process of restoring your implant.

Dental Implant Applications

Dental implants can be used to replace a single tooth, or an entire smile. In the case of a single missing tooth, the implant is restored with a custom-crafted crown that is permanently attached. Similarly, if you are missing several teeth, resulting in a single gap, a dental bridge can be permanently attached to one or more implants to restore your smile.

If you are in need of a full set of dentures, they can be either removable, or permanently attached to your implants. We offer the all-on-5 and all-on-6 configurations, in which custom dentures are screwed directly onto implants to achieve a permanent fit. Another option involves attaching a horizontal metal bar across the implants, providing a base over which the denture can slide, allowing it to be easily removed and replaced as needed.
