Oral Surgery Procedures
Dr. Bruce Treiber performs oral surgery at our Canton office. He uses sophisticated techniques to treat advanced decay, advanced gum disease, broken teeth or roots, badly positioned teeth, infection, and some impacted teeth. When you seek treatment at Treiber Dental, you can be certain you will receive excellent care from an experienced dentist. Dr. Treiber and his entire staff focus on making you comfortable, and giving you the best value possible. Being treated in your regular dentist’s office is more affordable than going to a surgical clinic, and you will feel more relaxed being treated in a familiar place. In addition, we use dental lasers in many of our surgical procedures to minimizing discomfort and recovery time. Contact us today to learn more.
Because Dr. Treiber takes a conservative approach to dentistry, he only performs extractions as a last resort and will first try to save your tooth through a root canal or other procedure. However, he may recommend an extraction if your tooth is too badly damaged to save, poorly positioned or impacted. Extraction may also be required for orthodontic reasons or if your tooth has been affected by serious gum disease.
Tooth extractions are often combined with dental implants. In these cases, an oral surgeon or periodontist will perform the extraction, so that you only have to undergo one procedure. If you are having a full mouth extraction, Dr. Treiber will perform it over three to four appointments to make your recovery easier.
Simple Wisdom Tooth Removal
Most people have a set of wisdom teeth, or a third set of molars, that typically erupt between ages 18 and 24. However, for the vast majority of patients, wisdom teeth are misaligned, painful, or impacted. We refer cases of impacted teeth to a specialist, who will remove the tooth in sections, but we perform simple wisdom tooth removal in the office.
Sometimes, crown lengthening, or the removal of some gum tissue, is required before performing restorative procedures, such as crowns and fillings. To do this, he will first anesthetize the area around the tooth and then move the gums away from the teeth.. This exposes more of the tooth, granting access to troubled areas, or providing a more ample foundation for restoration.
